♫ ♪ I Still Remember
I rarely remember when I sewed something.. When I try to date some of my older projects I have only terminus post quem – Burda issue.. With this dress it is different.. I made it exactly at night between the 30th of April and the 1st of May 2010, so I could wear it for picnic which is traditional way to celebrate May 1 in Serbia.. As most of Burda fans, before the issue comes in print, I like to take a look online if there’s something to look forward.. This time simple and cute dress caught my eye and I couldn’t wait to see that issue of Burda at newsstands.. Unlike the rest of Europe, Burda is week or two late here.. That’s why I had only one night to complete the dress..
The pattern is #114 from Burda 05/2010.. I ignored the part with buttons at the bust, and made it simple.. I inserted a short zipper, but it’s not necessary.. The fabric is cotton, one of many finds from remnant box.. Originally, it was white-gray-black, but since at that time I couldn’t imagine myself in white, I hand dyed it with Deka L textile dye, color violet (the same as Violet Hill dress).. I was so excited to dye the fabric, and I made a little mistake, which was in the end an unique effect.. I didn’t stir up well the dye, so when I put the fabric in the pot, the color was not evenly distributed..
